There are a few modifications to the motor that are required to get it mounted in the 2002. The oil pan on the S14 has a significantly different shape and doesn't fit between the 2002 frame rails. The oil pump pickup is also different on the S14. The S14 also has an oil seperator system that recovers oil fumes and routes them back to the oil pan. All of these issues need to be resolved for a successful conversion. I have seen some people modify the bottom of the stock 2002 pan to accomodate the S14 oil pump pickup and to increase the oil capacity. I decided to convert the oil pump pickup on the S14 to a 2002 pickup and keep the stock 2002 oil pan. I had an old oil pan and oil pump from a 71 I had parted out earlier. I pulled the pan on the S14 motor and switched out the oil pump pick-up. Somehow, I needed to get the oil return fitting for the oil recovery system on the 2002 pan. I thought about welding a bung on the side of the oil pan, but came up with an alternative. The fitting for the oil return line is not tapered and will accept a standard metric nut. I just drilled a hole in the pan, slightly larger than the fitting and used two O-rings on inside and outside of the pan walls to seal the fitting. The order is fitting, o-ring, oil pan wall, o-ring, flat washer, lock washer, nut.

crank scrapper to the oil pan, but didn't want to deal with the welding and dual oil pan gaskets. I coated the pan gasket with permatex and bolted it in place to complete the oil pan conversion. I wanted to keep the stock oil pressure and water temperator sensors on the 2002, so the instrument panel guages will continue to operate. It turns out that there are 4 water temperature sensors on the S14 motor, so I removed the one for the idiot light and replaced it with the stock sender from the 2002. There is also an oil temperature and pressure sender on the oil filter housing, so I used one of these to replace the stock oil pressure sender from the 2002. Back

The nut compresses the O-rings when tightened and provides a nice seal. I won't know how well this solution will work until I fire up the engine, but if it leaks, I'll pull the pan and weld the nut to the side of the oil pan instead. I was thinking about adding a windage tray or
